Joseph Zinski PhD is a Senior Research Investigator at the Center for Cytokine Storm Treatment and Laboratory (CSTL) within the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He received his BS from the University of Connecticut in chemical engineering where he modeled the metabolism of the pathogen Mycoplasma Gallisepticum. He received his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania in developmental biology where he studied zebrafish dorsal-ventral axis patterning. He developed a novel microscopy method to image the zebrafish embryos, the machine vision algorithm used to process the images, and the mathematical model of extracellular reaction-diffusion used to determine the mechanism of BMP gradient formation that patterns the dorsal-ventral axis. Dr. Zinski performed post-doctoral research for Dr. Mustafa Mir as a bioinformatician processing multiple omics datasets. He currently uses bioinformatics, machine learning, and deep learning to develop better diagnostic tools and treatments for Castleman disease.
